Welcome to the blog for Odyssey Overland's 2013 Istanbul to Darwin expedition.
In just 60 days, 22 excited people will meet up with their equally excited crew in Istanbul ready to embark upon an epic journey through some truly incredible parts of the world. For many, this expedition has been years in the planning, and now we are in the final 8 weeks or so the preparations really step up a notch - visa applications, vaccinations, finalising insurance, packing (and repacking when it doesn't fit the first time) - it is all part of the fun!
There won't be much to update you on until everyone heads off in mid-April, but after then, this is the place to come to find out what the expedition has been up to, hear some great stories and see some amazing photos of their time on the road.

I am interested to know maybe from the driver(s)/ crew whether they feel the vehicle's wheel base is right. It always looks incredibly long (even for a long wheel base) to me and I am intrigued at how it fares over the rough ground (maybe it just enforces a strict speed limit which isn't a bad thing!). Other than that, I'll be joining up one of these days to do another big overland trip. Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteHi Caroline Thanks for your interest in Odyssey Overland and our trucks. Our trucks are designed with the routes we travel in mind and of course our expedition members' comfort. We continue to traverse the biggest overland routes in the world and the truck becomes a beloved part of the expedition team, taking the group to places well off the beaten track and carrying everything we need to enjoy the journey. Overlanding is a fantastic way to travel, hopefully we will see you on one of our expeditions soon.
